Come & witness the grand technology showcase of TECNO across the product portfolio.It’s their World Technology Day so they’ve said that. And look at the box but not just that. Look at that lighting. There’s the same lighting on the back of the phone. If you enjoy our unboxing. Wow! I mean it’s a budget phone, but the packaging.
The presentation doesn’t look like it’s for Rs 15K. But they’ve done it! TECNO is very good. This thing is very good! Let’s keep it aside & look at the phone. When you buy it, you’re going to get this box so remember that. Otherwise you’ll get this retail box white box blue colour TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G.The phone looks modern in the hand there are flat sides we’ll talk about everything but let’s look at the box.First there’s the user manual & warranty.
Then you have an interesting case, it’s a TPU case, but look at this. And look at the camera module it’s a bit odd it looks different. It’s a 68W charger. This is definitely the first segment. Under Rs 15K, I think you get upto 30W, but it’s a 68W adapter. Then you have a humble sim card tool USB Type A to Type C charging cable.Let’s keep this aside & look at the phone.

What a phone I mean it’s priced at RS 15K & it offers so much. TECNO POVA 5 Pro is offering. But not just the phone, look at the box too. They’ve sent it. I’ll show you.
Design
This is a good looking phone. It’s a really nice looking phone. Look at the colours there are 2 colours: Dark Illusion & Silver Fantasy. There’s a clear glass back but I think it’s plastic. TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G Build Quality It’s plastic but it’s of very good quality & looks premium. And even the camera module is very nice, not bad.
But use it with the case, otherwise it’s a thumbprint & dust magnet. It has flat sides & it’s slightly on the heavier side. The screen guard is of good quality, but we’re going to remove it for the sound. Let’s talk about the weight: it’s a big battery of 5000mAh. It should be 197-198g. It’s 212g, the weight distribution is fine, but it’s on the heavier side.
TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G Ports & Buttons
There’s a 3.5mm jack at the bottom, there’s a microphone, a USB Type C port and a speaker grill. On the right there’s a power on & off button which is basically a fingerprint sensor. There’s a volume rocker, there’s a speaker grill on the top & on the left there’s a sim card tray. The base variant is 128GB, there are 2 variants 128GB & 256GB. There’s a dual sim card slot & an SD card slot. There’s a triple card slot, which is very good as you can expand the storage. It’s time to start the phone. Let’s look at the inside.
Display
This is the 3D ARC design & it has RGB lights. We’ve only seen single colour LED lights but this has different colour lights.
The display is 6.78” FHD+, 120Hz fast refresh rate, 240Hz TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G Display touch sampling rate & it has an IPS LCD display. It has a 240Hz TSR display. The bezels on the sides are average & the chin is fine. It’s priced at Rs 15K, 14,999 for the 128GB variant & 15,999 for the 256GB variant. The brightness is 518 Nits, it’s decent & it looks good indoors. The quality of the display & side viewing angles are good so the IPS LCD quality is good.
Specifications
This is the new Dimensity 6080 on this processor. I don’t understand the naming convention but it’s closer to the Qualcomm SD 695. It has 2 variants, 8GB RAM is uniform 8GB RAM is 128GB & 8GB RAM is 256GB. It has LPDDR4X RAM type & UMCP storage type. UMCP means it’s better than UFS 2.1 & closer to UFS 2.2. It has a 5000mAh battery & it has 68W charging. It’ll charge 50% in 15 minutes. It’s a 6nm processor so the battery will easily last for 1-1.5 days. You’ve done a lot of gaming & it has fast charging.
OS UI
It has HighOS 13.1 which is based on Android 13. It has a few bloatwares which can be uninstalled. Techno hasn’t mentioned any OS updates. There might be 1 year major updates & 2 year security updates. It supports bypass charging. You can charge it & play games. The battery will move & the motherboard will get power. You’ll enjoy gaming & you’ll get lag free gaming. It has bypass charging.
Multicolour Vibrant Backlight. It has different colours & customization is possible. There’s music visualisation. When you play music, the lights will dance & you’ll see different colours. But you can also turn it off. When you get notifications you’ll see different colours in the background.When you start the boot you’ll see the lights. So they’ve implemented it quite well. It’s the 1st phone with multi-color lights. It definitely stands out for a show off. It’s a Rs 15K phone & you don’t expect this from a Rs 15K phone.It has a 6080 Dimensity 5G Processor.
Performance
You can play games on medium to high settings. You can play PUBG on medium settings. It has a big screen with 120Hz refresh rate. You’ll enjoy gaming.
Sensors
It has a side mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock & they work well.
Multimedia
It has a big IPS LCD display with good colours. But what surprised me was the audio. It has dual stereo speakers. It has DTS tuned speakers with good quality. It’s loud & has good quality. Overall it’s a good phone for multimedia. It has 8GB virtual RAM.
Connectivity
It has 10 5G bands. It has dual 4G VoLTE & WiFi calling support. It has dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1 & NFC. Another surprising thing is the camera.
TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G Camera
I didn’t expect a good camera but it pleasantly surprised me. It has a 50MP primary sensor & 2MP AI. It has a dual camera setup. It has a 16MP selfie sensor.
It supports 2K 30FPS video. And not only on the rear but on the front as well. We took some HDR photos. I’ve taken a lot of photos in original quality. What surprised me was the good colours & sharpness. Portrait photos were good & the edge detection was good. But the HDR performance was outstanding. It controlled a lot of things. The skin tones are good in selfies as well. It has good colour accuracy. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good. But it surpassed my expectations, especially the camera. But there’s one thing the secondary ultrawide is not there.

2-3 years back, you used to get ultrawide even in Rs 15-16K phones. Nowadays it’s available in Rs 20-25K phones as well. So that’s not a good trend to have. Camera App Features You can take a photo & change the sky. You can enhance your photos. There’s a dual mode, you can use the front & rear camera at the same time. So there are all the features like portrait mode slow motion etc. So this is the Tecno POVA 5 Pro 5G.
And it offers a lot under Rs 15K. Specs wise it’s quite heavy. Dimensity 6080 is a good processor in that category. You get a fast charging of 68W which is really good. It has a 5000mAh battery 120Hz display & 240Hz touch sampling rate. The camera also punches above its weight in this price range.
&It’s probably one of the best cameras out there.And what else do you need from a phone when you’re paying Rs 15K you’re getting all these things? In the last few weeks, we’ve seen some really good value for money smartphones & the TECNO POVA 5 Pro 5G is no different.
