Introduction
Friends, finally flip phones are coming in the budget. I mean it took 2-3 years but now under Rs 50K. It’s a special price & if you pre-order it today you’ll get it for Indian Rs 49,999. But let me tell you a company like TECNO is bringing a good product.Obviously we’ll do the unboxing & first impressions & we’ll tell you everything about this new under Rs 50K flip phone. Let’s open it! It’s a big box & I like it. There aren’t many small boxes for unboxing.

But this is a big box, let’s open it! Alright, it’s written Phantom & not TECNO. Unboxing Alright, there are 3 boxes as well. The case comes with it, so that’s good. Then there’s a user manual, some stickers & a 12 month warranty. There’s a sim card tool. There’s a USB Type A to Type C charging cable, so that’s good. There’s another box & it feels like leather.
I think this is going to be a leather bag. But if you feel all the boxes, it feels premium. Alright, there’s a 45W charger in the box, so that’s also very nice. There’s a case, cable, charger, stickers, everything! So let’s keep this aside. Let’s open the round box. It’s written NFC, so there’s NFC support. Interestingly, I was reading in the box that it’s priced at Rs 71,999. So it’s a special price. Another interesting thing is that this flip phone is made in India! Yes, it’s assembled in India & I’m very happy about it. We’re slowly moving forward in manufacturing. Oops, there’s a sticker.

And look at the design! This looks like a premium product! And this is an actual leather bag & it feels different. It’s a more optimised product, even from a hardware perspective. There’s 1 hand close & 1 hand open. The cover screen is basically cameras & this is the LED light. There’s a 1.32” display in the middle with widgets.
It’s slightly top heavy as there’s a camera module & many But other than that, in hand it feels very nice. And it’s absolutely portable. Talking about the hinge, it’s a steel hinge with Phantom written on it. I don’t see Tecno written anywhere, but there’s Phantom written on it. So it stays open at 30 degrees. It’s 90 degrees.
It’s also 120 degrees. It stays open at 130 degrees, but it starts bouncing like this. Let’s weigh it. It weighs 195-200g. It feels a little top heavy, as I said earlier. 195-200g, let’s see. 196g, perfect! The V4 branding is here.I’ve already told you that it’s made of steel, but the frame is also metal. So they haven’t cut the corners. They’ve cut the corners to lower the price.And this is a no gap design. But it’s big, so it’s not sharp.

Alright, ports & buttons. There’s a microphone at the bottom, a USB Type C port, a speaker grill. On the right hand side, there’s a side mounted fingerprint sensor. It’s positioned properly. There’s a volume rocker at the top, then there’s a noise cancelling microphone.
On the left hand side, there’s a sim card tray at the top. And then you have those antenna lines. The sim card tray has a single nano sim card slot. By the way there’s a short UTG protection inside.They’ve tested it for upto 2 lakh folds. So you should easily go for 3-4 years. Even if you fold 100-150 folds in a day, it’ll easily last you for 3-4 years..We’ve seen it from the outside & I’m excited to see what’s inside. it’s a familiar design.

Talking about the display, it’s a 6.9” AMOLED display. It’s an LTPO display, which means it’ll dynamically refresh from 10Hz to 120Hz. So that’s good. It also supports HDR10+. The display is tall & the bezels are thin. The chin & upper bezels are thin. The selfie camera is at the centre punch hole. There are 2 cameras here.
There are some interesting things about the cameras. Talking about the cover display, it’s a 1.32” display. Talking about the brightness, the display is 1000 nits & the outer display is 800 nits. And you also get a 60Hz refresh rate. It’s not 120Hz, it’s the inner brightness. There are activity rings, alarm clocks, timers etc. There’s a stopwatch, you can record too. You can record your voice, there’s weather, add widgets. You can add widgets by opening it. There are watch faces too. So basically, it’s a combination of a flip phone & a smartwatch. So, a smartphone, flip phone & smartwatch. If I talk about the UI, it looks clean too. There are some interesting features in it.

Specifications It comes with Dimensity 8050 SoC, which is successor to Dimensity 1300. I don’t know if it’s a naming convention, but it’s 8050. Its AnTuTu score is around 7.5 L. Which I think is very decent in this Rs 50K price range for a flip phone. There’s only 1 variant with 8GB RAM & 256GB storage.
It has LPDDR4X RAM type & UFS 3.1 storage type. It has a 4000mAh battery with 45W charging. And you should use it all day as it has a 6Nm processor. So it’s a decent day long battery life.

You can easily play games on medium-high settings. We’ve played some games & it’s a big & tall screen. But obviously, a flip phone is not a gaming device, but it’s still fun to play games. It has an LTPO 120Hz display, so you can feel the smoothness. You get 8GB physical RAM along with 8GB virtual RAM.
Tecno V Flip OS UI
It has HiOS 13.5 which is based on Android 13. There are some 1st party & 3rd party apps that you can uninstall like Spotify, Instagram etc.I feel it’s giving me a clean UI feel. So that’s very important. There are many pop-ups & bloatwares, but they’re within limits. We don’t expect much from TECNO.
But they’ve said that they’re going to give major updates for 2 years & security updates for 3 years. There’s another feature, there’s an app called Ella which is basically an assistant. This is the 1st I’ve seen on a phone. There are other small features too. For security, you’ll have to insert a pin before the shutdown. So if someone wants to turn off the phone they won’t be able to do it. Unless you put your pin or pattern.
Tecno V Flip Multimedia
when you turn it off, you’ll get a more satisfying sound. You’ll be able to change the sound. There are digital sounds, but you can keep it. When you turn it off, the sound will go away. There are stereo speakers, they’re loud & good. There’s a big display, it’s full HD. There’s HDR support on YouTube, not on Netflix. But there’s a big display & good sound. You’re going to enjoy it for multimedia. There are sensors, side mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock, everything works well.
Connectivity
there’s WiFi 6, 5G, all bands are supported. It has Bluetooth 5.1, NFC & a step counter. Interestingly, these expensive phones don’t have FM radio but it has FM radio. There are 14 5G bands in total.
Tecno V Flip Camera
It has 64MP RGBW & a 13MP ultrawide sensor with a 32MP selfie sensor. You can do video calling internally. You can take a selfie like this too. It’s called a free cam mode, so you can work hands free. There are 2-3 interesting things, you can take a selfie but you can’t close the camera.
If you want to click like this, you can take a selfie with the 13MP ultrawide sensor. The quality is decent in normal conditions, we didn’t spend much time. We’re going to take a lot of photos in different conditions.

If I talk about the video graphics, you can get 4K 30FPS on the rear & 2K 30FPS on the selfie. If I talk about the camera features, there’s AI Cam Mode, Portrait Mode, Video Mode.
These are all the standard modes like Time Lapse, SkyShop, AR Shot, Pro Mode, Super Macro, Panorama, Document, Slow Motion. Yeah, everything that you want is there. It would’ve been nice if there were some small things, but it’s priced at Rs 50K, so I’m ok with it. But it doesn’t have wireless charging, so that should’ve been there.nThis is the Tecno Phantom V Flip. It’s a good looking phone.
It has a good in hand feel & looks. The display inside is also good. The front display is small but it looks very nice. It’s not completely copied.Despite being a small display, it has features like 8-10 widgets, you can use it as a watch.
So all those things are nice. And the performance is also quite good for this price range. If you’re interested, it’s going on sale from 10th October online & offline.
