Introduction
Alright friends, the iPhone 15 has been launched. But this is an exciting time! Watch Ultra, Watch Series 9, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max have all been announced. And I’ll tell you what, there are a lot of things that are very interesting.
First of all, in September 2012, the first lightning port came in the iPhone 15. And today the biggest change in the iPhone 15 is the USB Type C port which came on September 12, 2023. So there are a lot of things & I’m going to tell you everything. But this is a first look video & the unboxing & first impressions are coming soon. When we talk about the Apple event, it’s always exciting & a lot of people come here.
In fact, the Apple Park & Steve Jobs Theatre was full & when the event ended, everyone came out to see the new iPhones & watches. And you know, the ambience & energy is of a different level. But let’s start with the iPhone 15 & what are the changes? As I said, the USB Type C port has been introduced & that’s what we’ve been talking about for a long time. Let’s talk about the iPhone 15. It has the same display.
iPhone 15
sizes in the Plus & Non Pro models. The iPhone 15 & Plus has 6.1” & 6.7” with 60Hz OLED XDR display. The A16 Bionic chipset that was available in the 14 series is now available in the Non Pro models with 4nm technology. The base variant is still 128GB & then obviously 256GB & 512GB. You get a ceramic shield for the display so that’s there. And the colors are color infused. So when you hold the iPhone in fact the Pro models look seriously light.
It has a titanium frame & I’m going to talk about that. But there are 5 colors infused, Pink, Yellow, Green, Black, Blue & they look really nice. And if I talk about the camera, there’s a 48MP primary sensor at the back & a 12MP ultra wide. And the big upgrade is that you can shoot 4K at 60FPS.
And if I talk about the aluminum casing it’s aerospace grade. So the Pro & Non Pro models have become tougher. There are small upgrades in all aspects. 2-3 things are good, like USB Type C, there’s a slight upgrade in the camera & the display is slightly better. And there’s the SOS feature when you’re in an emergency situation. Now let’s talk about the Pro & Pro Max models.
iPhone 15 Pro & Max
It’s a 6.1” & 6.7” Pro XDR display with 120Hz ProMotion. It’s a fast refresh rate & the brightness has increased by 2000 nits. There’s a new CPU for performance, the Bionic A17 CPU. It’s a 6 core CPU & it’s 20-30% faster than the previous generation. Now there’s support for Ray Tracing. In fact, Apple has said that these are the best gaming devices out there.
A lot of console level games are coming on the iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max performance wise it’s right up there. Then we’ll test them & tell you everything. In this launch event, Apple talked about 2-3 things & that was Carbon Neutral & Recycled. They were continuously using these 3-4 words. And basically, to achieve their target of Net Zero by 2030.
And I’ll tell you what, there are a lot of things. In fact, look at the internals, externals, packaging, transportation. They’ve brought environmental friendly things in every aspect. And because of that they’ve said that they’re going to be Carbon Neutral soon. They’ve used a lot of recycled materials. It’s on all their devices whether it’s watch or iPhone 15 series. I went to the display area & as soon as I took these Pro. The models in my hands were so light. And the titanium frame comes with a very strong titanium frame which is very light.
Because of that, the iPhone Pro models have become very light. And I’ll tell you what, the design is a little rounded. If you look at the sides, it’s very flat. If I talk about the iPhone 14 it was very flat. Now, there are some curved edges even on the sides.
So when you hold it, the sharp edges used to hurt a lot. Because of that, they look slightly different. They don’t look shiny or glossy. They look a little matte & the colours are different as well. And I noticed another big thing. The red alert slider that used to be on the top & bottom. There’s an action button now & it’s a programmable action button.So now you can actually program it for different things. If you want to invoke the camera, you can do that.
If you want to be silent, you can do that. So you can do different things. And it’s integrated with Dynamic Island. I forgot to tell you about the iPhone 15 non-Pro models. Now in all the iPhone 15 series, you get Dynamic Island. Earlier it was only in Pro, now it’s in Non-Pro as well. If I talk about the Pro & Pro Max variants in the Pro base variant, you get 128GB. The rest are 256GB, 512GB & 1TB.
Iphone 15 Colours
There are 4 different colours. Titanium Blue, Titanium Black, Natural Titanium. There are 4 different colours. And to be honest with you they look good. There’s also grey. Seriously, when I was looking at it. It looked a little different.And this colour infused back, that really made a difference. The battery capacity & Type C charging is good. They didn’t say anything specific that you have to use this USB Type C charging cable. There’s no MFI certification so you can use the normal one as well. There’s not much difference in battery capacity if you compare it with the iPhone 14.
Cameras In the 48, there’s a primary sensor in both the Pro & Pro Max. But you get 48MP plus 12MP in the Pro. In the Pro Max, you get 48MP plus 12MP. And in the Pro Max you get 3X telephoto & 5X telephoto zoom. And now you can shoot macro as well. So you get macro to 5X zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro camera so that’s good. Now let’s talk about the watch. There’s not much difference if you look at the Watch 9 series or the Watch Ultra 2.
Apple Watch Ultra 2
There’s not much difference there’s the Watch SE, Watch 9 & Watch Ultra 2.They look similar, but if you look at the Watch Ultra 2 the frame has become really shiny. There’s not much difference in terms of weight as well. The performance of the Watch 9 has increased by 30%, so that’s good. In terms of brightness there’s 2000 nits brightness. The crash detection feature is still there. All those things that were in the 1st generation Watch 8 series are now in the Watch 9. There’s a feature called Double Tap which has a lot of functions.
Just like there’s an action button there’s a Double Tap feature in the Watch 9 series. So there are small & incremental things there’s not much difference. In terms of battery you get 18 hours of battery life. And if I talk about the Ultra 2, you get 36 hours & 72 hours on low battery mode. Just like that you get something similar in the Watch Ultra 2.There’s not much difference in terms of battery. In terms of brightness the Watch Ultra 2 has 3000 nits peak brightness.
Which is seriously one of the brightest watches out there. If you’re standing in the sunlight, you won’t have any problem. If I talk about the price it starts at Indian RS 29,900-30,000. The Watch 9 starts at Rs 41,000-42,000. And the Watch Ultra 2 starts at Indian Rs 89,900. So there’s no difference in the price. In the iPhone 15 & 14 series, there was no difference in the price. There were rumours that the price of the iPhone 15 would increase but nothing like that happened. So overall what do I think about this launch event? I think there are 2-3 significant updates in the iPhone 15. The rest are all incremental updates.
Whereas, if I talk about the Watch 9 series & the Ultra 2 they’re all incremental updates. I said earlier, we’re going to do a hands-on review. This special post is from Apple Park.
